Refugee Housing Support Worker (On-Call)

Wat ga je doen?

Make an impact through your presence and support

As a Refugee Housing Support Worker, you play an important role in the daily lives of residents. You help create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where people feel seen, heard, and respected.

You support residents with daily activities, organise meaningful programmes, and maintain a visible presence throughout the location. Previous experience in social care is not essential. What matters most is your personality, flexibility, empathy, and willingness to take initiative.

What will you do?

Support and guidance

You support residents with practical day-to-day questions, provide a listening ear, and encourage independence while contributing to a positive living environment.

Organising activities

You organise and supervise activities for different age groups and backgrounds, such as sports sessions, language activities, creative workshops, and social events.

Encouraging participation

You actively engage residents, helping them discover and develop their talents, interests, and skills while strengthening connections within the community.

Working with volunteers

Together with the Location Coordinator, you help coordinate volunteers, support them in their role, and contribute ideas for new initiatives.

Observing and reporting

You maintain a visible presence within the location, identify important developments or concerns, and communicate these to the Location Coordinator.

Taking initiative

You see opportunities for improvement and act on them. We value colleagues who are proactive, solutions-oriented, and willing to take responsibility.

Waar ga je werken?

You will work at one of our refugee reception locations in South Limburg, alongside a committed and motivated team dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for residents.

Shifts are scheduled as follows:

  • 08:00 - 15:15
  • 12:00 - 20:00
  • 14:45 - 22:00

As an on-call employee, your availability will be agreed upon together. This makes the position ideal to combine with studies, another job, or family commitments. Flexibility and occasional evening and weekend availability are important.

Wie ben je?

  • Empathy, patience, and respect when working with diverse groups;
  • Flexibility in working hours and availability;
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Don't recognise yourself in every requirement but feel this role suits you? We would still love to hear from you. Motivation and personality are more important than experience.
